Kitesurf Lesson Overview
- Meeting point at the Monki center (Quai de l’île Cazot / Rue des Hirondelles in Palavas).
- You will be equipped with a wetsuit, harness, helmet, buoyancy vest, and walkie-talkie.
- Don’t forget sunscreen and a bottle of water!
- Once the kitesurf equipment is loaded onto the boat, we head to the learning spot best suited to the day’s weather conditions.
- Lessons take place in the morning, afternoon, or as full-day sessions.

There is no limit to learning in kitesurfing. This highly addictive sport constantly fuels the desire to progress.
Learning new tricks, jumps, unhooked moves, and a wide variety of transitions—the possibilities are endless.
You can also choose a downwind session or learn a new discipline such as kitefoil or Tiki.
Getting introduced to riding with a foil kite, beach mountainboarding, or testing new equipment—anything is possible.

Prerequisites for advanced lessons and guided riding:
You must be autonomous in kitesurfing.
You know how to choose the right equipment according to weather conditions, prepare your gear, ride upwind on a twintip in all conditions (even with offshore wind), return to your starting point, and perform self-rescue.

What equipment do I need to bring to kitesurf lessons and what equipment is provided ?
Monki Kitesurf School provides :
- Full wetsuit (limited shorty stock)
- Harness
- Buoyancy vest
- Helmet
- Walkie-talkie
- Complete kitesurfing equipment
Note : if you wish, you can purchase a shorty (summer neoprene wetsuit) at Decathlon or in a surf shop.
What you should bring :
- Picnic
- Water bottle (2 L)
- Sweet and/or savory snacks
- Sunglasses with retainer strap
- SPF 50+ sunscreen
- Water-resistant cap or hat
- T-shirt or lycra
- Towel or poncho (ideally a poncho)
- Waterproof phone pouch
- Face mask and hand sanitizer
- Beach shoes or socks (hot sand in summer)
- Neoprene booties, gloves/mittens and neoprene hood (in cold weather)
- Windbreaker or sailing jacket for the boat (in cold weather)
What types of kitesurf lessons and courses does Monki School offer ?
- Half-day lesson: equipment discovery, safety and first kite control (5 to 5.5 hours including 3 to 3.5 hours of practice)
- 2-day course: kite control, body dragging and introduction to waterstart
- 3-day course: body dragging, waterstart and twintip discovery
- 4-day course: waterstart and first rides
- 5-day course: intensive progression and skill automation
- 1 guided ride: coaching for riders not yet autonomous
- 5 guided rides pass: safety boat + coaching over 5 sessions
- Guided ride with equipment rental
- Parent / child 2-day course (ages 10–14)

How long does a kitesurf lesson last at Monki School ?
A lesson lasts approximately 5 to 5.5 hours, with 3 to 3.5 hours of actual practice.
Lessons take place outdoors and depend on wind conditions. It is recommended not to schedule any appointments immediately afterwards, as wind conditions may take time to develop.
How do I register for kitesurf lessons and courses at Monki School ?
Registration is done directly via the Monki School website.
Click on the “Book” button at the top right and follow the instructions.
Once your booking is confirmed, you will automatically receive a confirmation email with all the information needed to prepare for your lesson or course.
What level is required to take kitesurf lessons and courses ?
No prior level is required.
You simply need to know how to swim and be comfortable in the water.
Lessons are suitable for both beginners and riders looking to improve.
